Everyone has a Tour of Duty.

A unity-driven experience that honors service in all its forms—on the job, in the community, and in uniform.

Why We Call It the Tour of Duty Experience

The Tour of Duty Institute is a unity-driven workplace experience that reconnects employees to purpose, pride, and each other. We help organizations build cultures where people feel seen, valued, and inspired to serve with meaning, no matter their role. By centering human connection and shared mission, the Institute strengthens belonging, elevates everyday contributions, and turns work into a place where people show up not just to perform, but to matter.

We call this the Tour of Duty Experience because duty is a time when commitment becomes visible. In the military, a tour of duty is the stretch where your oath is proven through action. You show up. You carry the load. Others depend on your reliability. The Pledge of Allegiance reminds us that loyalty and responsibility are lived. It is a statement of what you stand for and who you choose to show up for. We connect your tour of duty to the nation by showing how your work, whatever your profession, makes our nation more capable and more united.

In civilian life, every family, workplace, and community has its own “tour of duty,” a time when people are counting on you to follow through. This experience makes that duty more visible, helping people see how their everyday actions contribute to something larger than themselves and to a better nation, especially in places where people feel overlooked or disconnected from purpose.

A New Way to See Service

Team of professionals working collaboratively in a modern office environment with documents and laptops.

Tour of Duty was founded to bridge the space between military service and the vast, often unseen, world of civilian service,  a space where purpose belongs to all of us. Only 1% serve in uniform, but the other 99% carry the nation forward every single day: teaching children, healing the sick, building communities, protecting neighborhoods, creating opportunity, and keeping hope alive in a thousand quiet ways. We believe service is a shared calling, expressed differently, shaped by different experiences, but rooted in the same desire to stand for something bigger than ourselves. Our mission is to honor the unique demands of military service while elevating the extraordinary commitment found in every form of civilian service.

Tour of Duty exists because we know the real strength of this country comes from what happens when these two worlds meet, when the uncommon experiences of the 1% connect with the everyday courage of the 99%. Veterans bring resilience, clarity under pressure, and leadership forged in moments most people will never see. Civilians bring continuity, creativity, and the steady determination that keeps society moving. When these strengths come together, they don’t just complement each other, they amplify each other. We help create those connections, building a future where service is not a divide but a shared identity, a shared pride, and a shared path forward. Because service isn’t defined by the uniform you wear, it’s defined by the heart you bring to the world.
